The Brambles Pre-School

BROCHURE [PDF download]

Please click here to download a detailed brochure on the Brambles Pre-School

The school is registered with Ofsted to provide pre-school education for children aged 3+ on the primary school site. The Brambles Pre-school opened in September 2008 and is located in the Foundation Stage wing next to our two Reception classes.

Sallie Cochrane is the manager of the pre-school. Her previous experience included managing the Caring Hands childminding service and she was also a pre-school unit leader at the Ladybird Day Nursery. She has extensive experience of the care and education of pre-school children and received 'good' and 'outstanding' judgements during her latest Ofsted inspection.

The governors of Brampton Village Primary School are the managing body for the pre-school and are responsible for admissions. Children may join The Brambles in the term after their 3rd birthday; but priority will be given to children who are already three years old at the beginning of the academic year (i.e. children who will be applying to join the Reception class in 2010).

If the school receives more applications for children to join the pre-school than it has places available, then places will be allocated to the following criteria:

  1. Children who will be 3 years old on or before 1st September 2009, who live in Brampton and have a sibling at Brampton Village Primary School.
  2. Children who will be 3 years old on or before 1st September 2009 and who live in Brampton.
  3. Children who will be 3 years old on or before 1st September 2009, living outside Brampton, but who have a sibling at Brampton Village Primary School.
  4. Children who will be 3 years old on or before 1st September 2009 who live outside Brampton, but nearest  the school as measured by a straight line.
  5. Children who are three years old (in the above order).

If you would like to apply for a pre-school place for your child, please contact the school office for an application form.

INFORMATION

Admissions
The Brambles offers 32 part time places throughout the day for children in their Pre-school year, aged 3–4 years.  The Pre-school year is the whole school year before they start Reception class.

Sessions
Currently we offer five morning sessions which run from 9:00am – 11:30am and three afternoon sessions from 12:30pm – 3:00pm.  These sessions enable us to provide the required 2½ hours of nursery education for the Nursery Education voucher scheme.

You are able to choose up to a maximum of 5 sessions with the Government Vouchers.  Should you wish, you are able to spread your sessions between The Brambles Pre-school and other child care or nursery education providers.  If you wish to have additional sessions you can do so at a cost of £7.95 per session.

Lunch Club
A lunch club is available from 11:30am – 12:30pm at a charge of £2.00 per session which is billed at the end of each calendar month

Lunch club is supervised by two members of staff, including a lunchtime assistant, at all times.

Lunch Club children are required to bring a packed lunch.  Please mark your child’s lunch container with his / her name and ensure that they can be easily opened by them.  Any drink should be in a non-breakable plastic container.  Fizzy drinks, in cans or bottles, and sweets are not permitted.

As there are children who are allergic to peanuts we would ask parents to consider substituting all foods containing nuts (particularly peanut butter) for those that do not.  However, please let your child’s teacher know if any of the packed lunch has peanuts as an ingredient.

Clothing
We do not have a compulsory uniform at Pre-school but do have sweatshirts and t-shirts with embroidered badges.  These are available to purchase from the Pre-school.  Children will need clothing and footwear that can be easily managed, washable and comfortable so that children can be free to be independent and creative without the worry of ‘spoiling’ their clothes or not able to manage difficult fastenings etc.
